  7. WHAT IS GOLD LACE SCREEN SAVER?
  8. ---------------------------
  9. Gold Lace is a freeware screen saver for Windows 95/98/NT4. 
  10. It generates an endless variety of moving images similar to quaint lace.  
  11. The pictures never repeat, and each time you can see the new "show".

  13. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  14. -------------------
  15. 1. Microsoft Windows 95, 98 or NT4.
  16. 2. Pentium-200 or faster processor.
  17. 3. At least 16 Mb RAM.
  18. 4. 2Mb free disk space.
  19. Microsoft DirectX 3.0 or later recommended.

  22. INSTALLATION
  23. ------------------------------
  24. To install Gold Lace, start the "Setup.exe" program included with it, 
  25. then follow the on-screen instructions.  After installation click the right 
  26. mouse button on your computer's desktop.  Select Properties to view Display 
  27. Properties. Select the Screen Saver tab. Locate "Gold Lace" from the list and select 
  28. this option. Click Settings to open configuration panel and customize the settings.

  30. CHOICE OF A GRAPHIC MODE
  31. ------------------------
  32. If DirectX is installed on your system, you can use the dropdown box "Video 
  33. Mode" to set the graphic mode that will be used when the screen saver runs. If 
  34. DirectX is not installed, the current mode will be used. 
  35. You can download DirectX (at no charge) from MicrosoftÆs web site at: 
  36. http://www.microsoft.com/directx/
  37. In most cases the best graphic mode is 800*600*32 or 640*480*32.
  38. True Color (24-bit and 32-bit) video modes gives better quality of image than 
  39. High Color (16-bit) modes. The screen resolution influences performance of program:
  40. the more low resolution, the faster changes of image's shape and color. Therefore 
  41. if your computer has a slow processor (e.g. Pentium 150), it is better to choose 
  42. a lower screen resolution (e.g. 320*240), if it is available.
